A great first day!

We left Port Moody under sunny skies a day earlier to take advantage of the good weather. Friends and family sent us off with good wishes and safe travels. We cycled 105 kilometers through the back roads of Port Coquitlam, Maple Ridge and Mission to my parents place. Its a beautiful route to travel with rolling hills. More traffic than I remember from cycling it in the past. Before we finish our ride we stopped at the Mission Abbey and met afew of the monks that reside there. Brother Luke, who talked hopefully of trekking the El Camino in Spain and a frail but fiesty Father Lawrence in traditional clothing. Both gave us their blessings.

The second day from Mission to Hope was just as great. Pleasant weather with great tailwind that had us averaging 25-30 k/hr. We stopped in Agassi for a tasty lunch and arrived in blustery Hope at 4pm.
